Modern art and the sacred, conference of Thursday the 9th of December 2021

A conference by Agnès Ghenassia

The origins of art, in all cultures, are deeply linked to gods or to God.
What about this relationship to the sacred in the disenchanted context of modern and contemporary art? artists must invent new forms of trade with the invisible, with the very idea of transcendence.
What traces remain of the connivance with the religion which had carried art for centuries?
