Art and Fashion, a conference by Agnès Ghenassia

A conference by Agnès Ghenassia,

Fashion, said Yves Saint-Laurent, is ” a profession which is not quite an art, but which needs an artist to exist “. Art and fashion have a lot to share, for example, in the 1960s, the wave of Op Art initiated by Victor Vasarely inspired talented couturiers and helped bring art to the streets.

Moreover, from its inception, Haute Couture has established “ collaborations ” with artists, which continue even today, when the big fashion houses offer visual artists to shake up their traditional image.

By browsing the great fashion movements of the twentieth century, we will also see the role played by major magazines like Harper’s Bazaar in the rapprochement between art and fashion, as well as the role of some great photographers who have helped to change our outlook on fashion. and on beauty.

Finally, while the contemporary trend is to erase the boundaries between the arts, other surprises await us, because the fashion shows have become real performances and fashion also inspires visual artists.

Conference of Tuesday the 14th of September 2021 at 10:30 am at the 6MIC.

The conference will be held at 6MIC (Contemporary Music Hall of the Pays d’Aix), located at the entrance to the new Constance district in Aix-en-Provence, a few hundred meters from the Vasarely Foundation, at the chemin des Aubépines.
