Art and Advertising conference cancelled

A conference by Agnès Ghenassia,

The traditional pattern is that art creates and the applied arts, of which advertising is a part, follow. But history shows that many overlaps make this received idea more complex and that artists have also sometimes used the language of advertisers.
From the Toulouse-Lautrec posters, which have acquired the status of a work of art, to the most recent misappropriation of iconic works by brands, the relations between art and advertising are rich in exchanges and reciprocal contaminations that will feed our thinking.

Dear members,

Due to the changing health context and in order to comply with official guidelines, the Vasarely Foundation remains closed until further notice.
The current health situation also forces us to take a break. As a result, our next Art and Advertising conference by Agnès Ghenassia, scheduled for Tuesday October 10 at 10:30 a.m. at 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence, is canceled.

The friends of the Vasarely Foundation hope to be able to reprogram it in the coming months, as soon as sanitary conditions allow it.

Hans Hartung, the constantly renewed abstract painting, the 19th of March at 6 pm

A conference by Agnès Ghenassia, organized by the Franco-German Center of Provence in cooperation with the Vasarely Foundation and the Association of Friends of the Vasarely Foundation

The exhibition that the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris devoted to Hans Hartung until March 1 allowed to discover all the richness of a work too often reduced to the qualifiers of “gestural painting”. Hartung, born in Leipzig in 1904, had chosen France from 1935, without rallying to any movement of modernity, skeptical of all artistic theories, with a single objective, as a man and as an artist: do not betray yourself, do not accept any compromise, whatever the price. Until his last days in 1989, he explored the effects of the gesture in the space of the painting, between tachism, calligraphy, lyricism, spontaneity and mastery, varying tools, colors and formats until the last incredibly fresh and bold explorations.

Art and Nature, season 2, December 3rd 2019 at 10h30am

A conference by Agnès Ghenassia

Associate Professor of Fine Arts and Lecturer of Modern and Contemporary Art

Among the proliferation of postures and contemporary artistic practices, painters revisit the tradition of landscape and the gaze on the garden, sculptors imagine hybrid poetic man / nature and ecologically engaged artists try to mobilize the public or react to our collective concerns.
